Visiting Lasham:
Lasham, in Hampshire, is owned and operated by the Lasham Gliding Society.The airfield is located between Basingstoke and Alton and is signposted off the A339. Airside access is limited to club members (such as the author), membership is available from £77 and will give you air side access and up to 10 gliding flights per year. Lasham is one of the worlds largest gliding sites and has been in operation since 1951. ATC Lasham operate an airliner maintenance and storage business from the west side of the airfield. Airliners have shared the airfield with gliders since 1956.
You can view the aircraft from several spots.
Firstly the Club House found on Avenue Road. This has a large out door grass and patio area that gives views of almost all the runway as well as the adjacent hangar and distance views of the ATC airliners.
Secondly there is a entrance to ATC near the junction of the A339 and The Avenue. This ends in a controlled gate but officially there is no parking here.
Thirdly in Lasham village on the road past The Royal Oak pub is another controlled barrier with parking on the approach road. This give a view of the 'village ' side of ATC. To find this area turn right out of the gliding club entrance, then at the end of the airfield turn right . This takes you to Lasham village, once in the village turn right at the church and this leads to the access gate.

Lasham Gliding club also have a restaurant, and toilets, that can be used by non members in the clubhouse. During gliding events air side tours are often available to non members, ask at the competition HQ hut in the far corner of the viewing area..
